MENA Organization for Research, Empowerment, Capacity Development, and UnBiased Production
“Intersectionality is a lens through which you can see where power comes and collides, where it interlocks and intersects. It’s not simply that there’s a race problem here, a gender problem here, and a class or LBGTQ problem there.”
1morecup was founded as a multi sector organization that brings together sister-initiatives to work collectively for stronger and more intersectional impact on public awareness, advocacy, and lobbying efforts. We do not simply inspire to be a justice-oriented multimedia production, but one that is accountable to people at the base of our movements.
Our theory of change favors skill sharing: the provision of capacity building workshops, as well as the co-creation of safer and more prosperous environments for people from marginalized groups, is at the core of our work. It is with their insights that we can move mountains.
Mission
We are committed to:
Assisting individuals from marginalized communities to build their capacities in multimedia mastery and knowledge of processes towards inflicting social and political change.
Collaborating with sister organizations, civil society, and grassroots movements for the amplification of their campaigns and advocacy efforts.
Building bridges between various movements and work in a cross-sectoral manner to achieve justice for all.
Engaging with stakeholders and governments from a bottom-up approach to build their capacity and cater their resources to the service of those who carry disproportionate weights of structural difficulties and compound identities including racial, ethnic, gender, sexuality, ability, to name a few.
Vision
Focused on the MENA region burdened by histories of colonialism, competing for political agendas, and infrastructural difficulties, we contribute to a world where people from marginalized communities own their stories and shape their futures. A world where access to human rights is undeniable and where those who fall under various systems of oppressions have the tools to take what is rightfully theirs is what we work for.
